Brat Roll - Tailgate Appetizer
A pizza dough wrapped around melted cheese, sauteed onions and garlic and ground bratwurst!

1 2 cup bag of shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 2 cup bag of shredded mild cheddar cheese
Instructions
Sautee onions and garlic.
Remove casing from brat links and cook in frying pan.
Spread pizza dough into rectangle shape.
Spread shredded Monterey jack cheese on bottom.
Spread onions and garlic over top of cheese.
Spread cooked crumbled bratwurst over top of onions and garlic.
Sprinkle 1-2 T parsley over top of bratwurst.
Spread mild cheddar cheese over top.
Roll pizza dough around the filling
bake in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes until both sides are browned.
Slice and serve.
Yield: 10-15 slices
Prep Time: 00:25

That sounds very tasty, and easy! Brats are very popular around here...

Re: Brat Roll - Tailgate Appetizer
Well this was dinner tonight.
I thought it was a bit too much garlic and I only used 3 cloves. Other than that we really liked it.
Next time I think I'll omit the garlic altogether. But if you really LOVE garlic then this is the recipe for you!
I also intend to make it again using Italian sausage and perhaps some sauce either pizza sauce or Alfredo sauce would work I think.
I also considered just baking it open faced like a pizza since we made this our dinner not just an appetizer. I just might another time.
Bruce is thinking steak slices with green peppers and onions and swiss cheese for a Philly cheesesteak kind of thing would be good too.
So many ideas.Last edited by LariP; 01-26-2013 at 06:06 PM.

Re: Brat Roll - Tailgate Appetizer
We had this last week with mild Italian Sausage instead of brats and didn't use garlic. YUMMY!!!! Gonna try it tonight with Hot Italian Sausage.

Re: Brat Roll - Tailgate Appetizer
Spicy Turkey sausage tonight with onions, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. I even put cheese on the top because we always eat it with a knife and fork not as "finger food"
I've lost count of how many times we have made this now. It's an easy meal and oh so yummy!

Please add your picture Kelly. Your combination sounds really good. I'm also thinking this needs to be posted in the dinners section too. It's definitely served most often as dinner here not an appetizer.
