Cowboy Beans
1/2 to 1 lb. bacon
1 yellow onion
3 cans kidney beans, drained
3 cans Bushes maple brown sugar baked beans
3 cans butter beans, drained
hickory smoke BBQ sauce, tabasco, brown sugar, cider vinegar, regular mustard
Chop bacon and onion and fry together until onion soft, bacon not crisp; dump in crockpot.
Add all of the beans
Add 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
Add 1 Tbs of regular mustard and 1 Tbs. vinegar
Taste test before adding 1 Tbs brown sugar--I find they are sweet enough without the sugar.
Finally add tabasco to the "heat" you like
Vary the recipe by using 1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey instead of the bacon or in addition to the bacon.
Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. These make great leftovers because they are even better after being chilled and reheated.Last edited by LariP; 01-20-2013 at 01:24 PM.

Sounds yummy! We love beans here in our house. I don't have my recipes typed they are in my head so I will add them soon!
