    Jackie's Peach & Strawberry/Fruit Crumble


    2 T fresh lemon juice (about 1/2 large lemon)
    1 1/2 T arrowroot flour (in spice section) if there is lots of juice add a T or 2 of flour also.
    1 lb. strawberries, halved
    1 1/2 lbs. yellow or white peaches, peeled, pitted, sliced
    1 6oz pkg each of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries
    1/4 cup light brown sugar

    2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
    1/2 cup flour
    6 T soft butter chunked up
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup chopped almonds
    1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

    Put rack in center of oven, preheat to 350.

    For filling: in med. bowl whisk lemon juice and arrowroot until smooth. Add fruit and sugar. Gently toss until fruit is coated. Pour fruit into 3 qt baking dish.

    Topping: Add oatmeal, flour, nuts, cinnamon, salt, and sugar into a bowl and stir. Using your fingers, carefully blend the butter into the mixture. Don't overwork it.

    Sprinkle the mixture over the filling and bake for 40 to 45 min. until the filling is bubbling and the top is light golden. Cool 1 hour and serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
