Help me settle a curry argument!

Help me settle a curry argument!

Noah really wants to make curry. Daddy says no! Because he does not understand that it is not just a spice, but its a dish! Help me prove that it is not just a spice, please! I looked it up and I see many delicious looking curry dishes, But what do you serve it with?

Curry is a traditional DISH in many cultures--Indian, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Chinese, even British, just to name a few. Curry is not just one spice but as a DISH, it is a conglomeration of many different spices. It can be a meat based dish with beef or chicken, goat, fish, or vegetarian. Curry is best accompanied with a starch like brown rice, basmati rice, pasta, potatoes, or Naan, an Indian bread (roti). I grew up eating many different curries, especially ones made with coconut milk and turmeric, and all sorts of wonderful herbs and spices. I LOVE curry and I hope you and your family will too, Lisa!

Actually, I believe "curry" is the name given to the dish by the British. One of my favorite curries is just spiced with ground cumin and ground coriander. What does your husband like? I have a gazillion curry recipes. It does not have to be hot.
We may live without poetry, music and art; We may live without conscience, and live without heart; We may live without friends; we may live without books, But civilized man cannot live without cooks.

First off: make it anyway! Daddy doesn't HAVE to eat it.

Secondly: there are a million different recipes called "curry." (My lunch today was a soup called "Yellow Curry" which was broth, peanuts, chunks of onion, and tofu blobs. Korean restaurant, I believe; but had Thai-ish recipes.)

Always indulge yer kiddos' cooking experiments!!!!!

Chip used to stay in a lot of hotels that were the extended stay types when he traveled for his job. A lot of times the whole entire hotel-- hallways and all, reeked of curry (powder). So he detests the smell of what he thinks 'curry' is.
