I need a peppercorn recommendation please

I just got a new pepper mill and love grinding pepper onto my nightly salads. Thing is, I'm on the hunt for a tasty pepper that is not spicy. The one I have is pretty good...it's supposedly a good quality pepper called "whole tellicherry peppercorns". It's good and has a bit of spice to it. I tried a pepper from a restaurant called Tender Greens the other day and really loved how it tasted...has a smoky flavor that is not spicy. I tweeted the restaurant this evening to see if they could tell me what kind of peppercorns they use.

Anyways, does anyone have a recommendation?

Wow, sadly I just use basic peppercorn in my grinder. Feeling like I am missing something now. Lol

No, that's not sad. What's sad is using that pre-ground-up pepper stuff that you cannot even taste! that was me before this eye opening pepper mill experience i had at the restaurant! I'm now a pepper convert!

Yeah, I have a hard time using regular ol pepper now too. I have a grinder in the kitchen for cooking and one on the table. Going to have to check out pepper blends now.

That restaurant, Tender Greens, tweeted me back with this answer, "Black Peppercorns". Well, that really narrows it down, doesn't it!? LOL. Guess I'll just have to experiment.

Whites are milder. Blacks are spicier. That's about the extent of my knowledge on Peppercorns....

I found that pepper really makes a difference with food. It sure made that salad I was eating "come alive"!

Well while at the store the other day, a customer pointed out a McCormick garlic pepper seasoning grinder saying how it was the best ever. I bought it for the heck of it so I will have to test it out. Course it is more expensive coming in a little grinder but might be yummy.

We get the tri color peppercorns often. Or black just depends on what we find. Overall I don't see a lot of difference in the flavor of one over another, but there is a huge difference in using fresh ground pepper vs the pre ground stuff on everything.

I first learned about pepper on salad at Red Lobster. Loved it. And that's what got me started with fresh cracked pepper too.

I'm going to have to look for tri-color-peppers. Doesn't it taste so great on salads, especially? Lately, I've been dousing my greens with freshly ground pepper. It's the best!

I'm amazed that my parents never used fresh ground pepper. But guess what...Red Lobster didn't only change me. LOL
It really does make a huge difference in everything but I agree it's especially noticeable in a salad. I even keep a pepper grinder at work to have fresh cracked pepper on my lunch.
