Have you ever screwed up a recipe??!!

Have you ever screwed up a recipe??!!

I'm so PO'd at myself right now. I woke up really early this morning, like 3am, and decided to cook this meatloaf dish I was wanting to make for a couple months.

Anyways, I was enjoying the cooking process, just really getting into it. Came time to put the binder in, which in this recipe, was coconut flour. Okay, I already poured the correct amount into a dish so it would be within my reach. And what do i do instead? I poured in sea salt! Yes, it was in another dish close to me, and had about 1/3 cup sea salt in it. As I poured it into the meat, I was thinking, 'wonder why the coconut flour looks so granulated and fine like that...' Before I realized my error, I had already mixed the salt into the meat so there was no way I could get it back out! I went through with the recipe anyways and just hoped for the best.

Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, the meatloaf is SO SALTY!!!

I guess the bright side is, I wasn't making the dish for guests, just for myself. I'm still going to eat it though since I hate wasting food and this meat was really good quality grass-fed bison and pastured pork. All the veggies I used were organic...everything was healthy...and then I blew it!

I just had to let that out and vent about it.

Anyone else want to share a recipe fiasco so I don't feel so alone?

Addendum: ended up tossing the entire meatloaf. Soooooo salty. I couldn't taste anything except salt and what's worse, it made me want to eat more of something else, not to mention made me very thirsty. Not worth trying to salvage it. C'est la vie.

When I was young, I made lasagna for company one evening... it was a colossal FLOP!
I was embarrassed, but we all had a great laugh, broke out some straws, and literally DRANK the sauce out of the pan... ROFL! Once the sauce had been removed, the rest of it was tasty!
