Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
Like Hamburger Helper and such.
My answer is.....
Heck yes!!! I got 4 kids and sometimes I don't feel like cooking!!!!I probably make it 2-3 times a month.
I will make some biscuits and Normandy Veggies, and I usually throw in some veggies from my veggie drawer into the hamburger helper.
That is pretty much the only boxed dinner I make tho. I remember when I was a kid I always LOVED it when my mom or my grandma Patsy made Hamburger Helper.
Seems like they baked it in the oven. With a big layer of cheese on top.

Re: Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
I never did, even when my kids were little. I had a girlfriend that made Hamburger Helper 7 days a week, for weeks! (that is the ONLY thing she knew how to cook) If I didn't feel like cooking when the kids were little, a hot dog with boxed mac n cheese was our quick go to. Now if I don't feel like cooking and my kids are gone and on their own, I order take out.

Re: Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
I have always worked full time. I used to say my way of cooking involved the directions "heat and eat"
So if it's pre packaged, boxed, frozen, ready to eat I am sure I have tried it at one time or the other.
You may also notice a trend in the vast majority of the recipes I post.
They are EASY, quick throw it together type of cooking.
I RARELY do putzy many step recipes.

Not so much anymore. I realized they are a waste of money since you could easily duplicate them yourself although I rarely ever do. haha. Instead of tuna helper I may just add chicken or tuna to my reg box of noodles along with some broccoli or something. I DO use frozen main courses when I am busy or lazy tho. My fav go to is the frozen terriyaki chicken that I make up with brown rice and broccoli, SO yummy and easy.

In fact, today.....I'm experimenting with dinner, so dessert is Betty Crocker Lemon Bars straight out of the box add eggs and water. Filling is mixed & Crust is in the oven browning as I type.

Re: Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
I used to do a lot of processed, bang it in the oven for 20 minutes, type stuff but for the last couple years i've refused to buy it in anymore. All fresh in my houshold now with the odd tin of soup or beans thrown in

cali~jenn we thought that at first too, but once done it was easier than we thought. Connor is 12 this time though, and it is only us 3 to cook for, I think if i had more or younger kids it wouldnt have worked

I don't have any take out near me, cannot even get pizza delivered.
I am a mostly fresh, but on occasion I will use one of those boxed meals. But I always must throw some fresh in. LOL

Re: Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
I don't anymore, not that I did very often before. I am trying to cook healthier. If I don't feel like cooking I just don't. I don't kids to feed and so if I don't feel like makingdinner its just a fend for yourself kind of deal

Re: Tell the truth.... do you make boxed dinners?
Nope never. In fact I have never had hamburger helper. I refuse to even eat almost anything out of a box or a can. Chicken and star soup or rotel chilies and tomatoes is as far as I will go. My mother/grandmother believed that dinner should be homemade. This includes fresh not canned veggies. This stuck with me. If i'm too tired to cook, I cheat and order pizza. I hate most frozen food including frozen pizza too. I make all my baked goods from scratch also, no boxed cake mix, brownie mix either.
