May I peek into your pantry?

May I peek into your pantry?

What are some of your must-have pantry staples?

I am trying to stock up my pantry so that if I'm too busy to go grocery shopping one day, I can just grab things I have on hand and make a decent meal out of it.

Currently, I must admit, my pantry cupboard is a bit scarce: I have a can of Boston baked beans, a couple cans of evaporated milk (or is it condensed?), an opened box of pasta, canned spaghetti sauce, 1 can of sardines, 2 boxes of mac 'n cheese, a can of lite coconut milk, and some white and brown rice.

I'm in need of a pantry makeover!

SR & AP Flour and baking powder
    Sugar
Brown Sugar in a tupperware thingie
    Couple packets of yeast
    Corn Starch
Several different bags of noodles in various shapes
A cheater's box of chicken broth (I know, I blush.)
    Couple boxes of Panko
the obligatory: A-1, Soy, Frank's, Worchestershire, balsamic vinegar, liquid smoke, and a bottle of Kitchen Bouquet.
Some Quaker Oats, and some Irish Oats (do it! Steel Cut Oats!! You'll love 'em!)
    Extracts: Vanilla, Almond.
Bouillon: Low Salt Chicken, Low Salt Beef, and a local Caldo Con Res with a roast-beefy flavor mixed with a guisada seasoning
    Sea Salt
    Coarse Grind Pepper (HUGE jar)
    Fine Ground Pepper (also HUGE)
Various and sundry spices and spice mixes, both home-brew and store bought
A white cake mix for emergency use, along with a white fluffy icing mix envelope... (I blame my daughter, I would never admit to purchasing that!)
Numerous bags of beans... pintos, BEPs, some 15-bean mix bags in various varieties, a small box of barley, rice in several flavors (brown, white, jasmine, and botan calrose [daughter's sticky rice for sushi])
Cans of tuna, chicken, soups (Progresso Rocks my lunches), Ro*Tel, Frijoles Negros, garbanzos
Then we get to the Shelf I Never Admit to Owning: Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Zatarain's boxes of Jambalaya, Etouffe, etc. Several Mahatma bags. And the colossal entire case of Ramen.

    Any ideas in that?

    That's quite a comprehensive list!

I do have the spices and a few different vinegars and sauces. Just lacking in a whole lot of other stuff. I love having some cake mix on hand too--comes in handy for any last minute dessert ideas.
you got a mini-market going on there!!

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Well I have no actual pantry so my cupboards r a pain in my bootie. I always have a stack of canned tuna, stack of canned chicken (hubby like that stuff but it isn't bad thrown into a pasta for a quick cheat) a few cans of canned salmon, few varieties of pasta, a LOT of cans of pasta sauce. (trying to keep big supplies of basics, living in earthquake country and all) many cans of black and pinto beans. El pato, a fav spicy tomato sauce, canned veggies for the girls, Mac and cheese and some other flavored pasta boxes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and paste..... I know there is more but that is probably enough basics. Not counting my baking cupboard that does have brownie, cake, extracts, and all that stuff. Oh and spices, too many I am sure to count. Lol

Its a combination of three different shopping people... What I want, what he wants, and what she wanted! LOL! Its kinda nice because there are times when we run outta PayCHECK several days before Pay Day - and we can just graze for a while without worrying. LOL!

As I said, I have a fear of running out of something. Oh and I do have 4 kids so that you know! (My pantry is usually a lot more organized that this!!!! Who has time to make it so when they have pups? MY EXCUSE!! And I am sticking to it!)

The sad thing is that I also have a cereal cupboard. Usually 4 boxes in there and all the fun cereal bowls.

Wh would know cuz mine are such a mess I cant remember what I do have. Oh and a cereal cupboard with like 12+ boxes. Thats BETTER than what I have! I SO need a cupboard or something. Someday we will build into our garage space a laundry room and pantry. Will take from the garage BUT we use that as a play room anyhow so that is fine with me. Someday....

LOL! We are the opposite. We have six garage bays on a 900 sq ft house... LOL! Yes, I know, hilarious visual.
Garages cannot go - but floor space in the casa can! That makes less for me to have to sweep!

I made some progress this weekend with my pantry cupboards; got some canned vegetables, canned tuna, chicken/beef broths, and yes, even that elusive box of baking soda!
still have a way more to go but I feel a tad bit more complete now.

Lol that is funny. Our little 2 car garage is a video game room, exercise room, laundry room, kids play room and a small area for daddy's tools. We need a bigger house and garage actually. Lol funny how that is.
@cali baker baking soda is great for cleaning as well so no excuse to not have it on hand, and fresh at that. Just started cleaning drains with it and vinegar, my gawd..... Awesome!
