Thanksgiving Menu?
I was sitting here - browsing the forums - and realized that this is the first time in five or so years (DH's family and my Father live locally) that I will be cooking for Thanksgiving. My daughter left for college 1 month, 30 days, 20 hours ago... and I want to have a quiet dinner at home with her. We can make the rounds visiting family later in the day or on subsequent days...
What is on your family's Thanksgiving menu?
I'm kinda drawing a blank of what I think I'd like to make. There will only be the 3 of us, as my son won't be able to make it.
Turkey, of course
Cornbread stuffing
Heart Attack GreenBeans
Corn Pudding
Cran jelly
What else?

I do Deep fried turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, fried green beans, corn, sweet potato casserole and buns. I wonder if your heart attack green beans are similar to mine?

I haven't cooked for Thanksgiving so no help but I did make some awesome cranberries last year. I normally don't like them but these were awesome. I am sure I posted it here but will have to double check and add it to the holiday forum.

Re: Thanksgiving Menu?
We have Thanksgiving at my parents on Thursday, however it is my favorite meal to cook and eat.
So we do it all on Friday....double dinner.
I make a huge amount of food
Turkey stuffed
stuffing outside the Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
baked Sweet potatoes
broccohle casserole
green beans, fresh lightly steamed
7 layer salad
skillet cranberries
and a squash of some kind, usually acorn squash cut in half and baked with butter and brown sugar in the divot
for those "picky" cranberry people, I do need to open a can of jelled cranberry sauce
dessert is a pumpkin pie, pecan pie and Apple/cranberry pie.
Told you a lot of food. My family comes over along wit friends. We usually have about 15-20 people. If not, we nibble for weeks. If at first you don't succeed, do it your wife's way!

Oooh, I forgot to add Deviled Eggs!
Heart Attack Green Beans = Green beans, mushrooms, creamy mushroom soup, Velveeta "Cheese Product" and Fried "Onion Things." Same?
