    New Year's Food Resolutions!

    New Year's Food Resolutions!

    What are yours for 2013?

This new year I'd like to cook more often. A couple years back when I wasn't single I used to cook something every week. Since I basically cook for one these days, I haven't been experimenting so much w/new (or old) recipes. That will be changing tho

I'd love to make more things in my slow cooker; this site has been wonderful with the crock pot recipes.

I want to learn to grill and bbq. I have a charcoal grill set that my brother got me as a housewarming gift that sits in the garage waiting to be used!

and maybe not really a "food" resolution but I hope to build up my in-home bar so I can make some fancy cocktails. I already have the shelf space and have collected a few liquors.

Are there any new food techniques that you've been meaning to try? like candy making or making your own sushi?

    Please share!

Oh, and another resolution I have for this year is to bake bread from scratch. I did this for some time before but then stopped. I would love to start doing that again!

I've been really bad about cooking in the past five years… Dear hubby is such a fantastic cook, that I barely even lift a finger. I think he kind of gets the short end of the stick there.
My goal is to cook more often, and more healthy. I'm getting a delivery of organic, local, sustainable, farmers market vegetables delivered twice a month… There's a site called Greenling who browses the local farms, and assembles a delivery box for us. I just signed up for it, my first delivery should be today…

Traci, i know you're just gonna love that organic produce box! I used to get one sent to me twice a month also. They would gather beautiful fruits and veggies from various local farmer's mkts and i'd get to try some things i never would've bought for myself! it was fun. Hmmm maybe i'll sign up for that again too...

That vegetable deliver sounds pretty neat. We only eat the basic veggies really. I know that I don't love many vegetables so I stick with the basic 4. Cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, and asparagus. Carrots are a fav of everyone but me so I toss them in sometimes. maybe this year I should try new things in the veggie dept. I am planning on eating much better as well cuz somehow my eating has gone off the cliff lately.

I've already fallen in love with Sunchokes (never heard if them before last week!) and Bok Choi!
Made an "Asian" wok-thing tonight that was luscious!

I tend to eat the same five things a LOT; and this is my way of making me try new things!
I am so frugal, I will not throw out much if anything! LOL! New Year's Food Resolutions!-imageuploadedbytapatalk1357354148-822212-jpg

I barely touched my grill/bbq…so that resolution was not met. I did bake more from scratch though…yay! and yes, my slow cooker was put to very good use! I am still thinking of what I'd like to achieve this year as far as cooking goes...

How will you achieve this, Pati? Are you watching cooking shows or do you read thru cookbooks? or look online mostly for your recipes? Do let us know how it goes and don't forget to share with us some of the recipes you discover!

I cook almost every night, and it's a struggle to find new recipes that my kids will eat I'm really tired of taco's, spaghetti, etc… I would like to have more weekly meals that everyone enjoys. And I would LOVE to make homemade bread… YUM!!!
