Do you use butter or margarine?
Do you use butter or margarine?
I use only salted butter for my cooking. I do wonder about the health risks, but hey, it tastes good!
What do you use and why?

I use real butter for my baking and cooking. I use margarine for spreads like on toast, biscuits etc..
If at first you don't succeed, do it your wife's way!

Salted butter!
Margarines do not agree with me at all. I think of it as a Bellyache in a tub!
As far as whats good for you, all natural butter over preservative filled margarine has to far outweigh the benefits of a little less cholesterol.

BUTTER!
Margarine is one molecule away from plastic - plus it's not better for you than butter - and it tastes horrible and has artificial colors.

BUTTER! I agree 100% with shehistory! They say they say the hyrdrogenated oils in margarine make it much worse for you than just sticking with regular ol' butter!

Unsalted butter, but I substitute olive oil whenever possible, or a combination. I used to use a spread to save on calories, but now I am of the opinion the more natural the better. Little to no artificial ingredients, preservatives, or any additives whenever possible. Plus, since my husband is ill, I have to, believe it or not, sneak the salt out of his diet without him noticing. It ain't easy.

I've gotten into coconut oil lately. It is a solid, until 76 degrees... At which point it melts. Handles higher heats without smoking. Doesn't lose its health benefit when heated, like EVOO does.
Handy stuff.
Also can be used as a lip balm, all-natural deodorant, handcream, anything else that you can imagine!

I also use coconut oil on my hair. Makes it smooth and shiny, but not too greasy. It's just like that Moroccan Argan oil. Use that too.
