Green Tea Chicken
Well, yesterday I was bored. When I'm bored I putter in the kitchen. I love tea and have experimented with using it as an ingredient in some dishes. Yesterday I played with green tea and honey and came up with this which I thought came out not bad at all! Sorry I don't have specific measurements, I don't measure unless I'm baking...and even then I cheat.
I brewed a very strong pot of greet tea. 8 bags of tea in 3 cups of water. Then, I started out like I was making gravy. I heated some oil in the skillet and cooked about 2 cups of flour. I used the tea to make the gravy. I made it thick...a paste like consistency. Then, I added honey, sweet basil, thyme, lemon, garlic, dash of soy, a table spoon of green curry paste and black pepper to the mix.
Next I rinsed chicken breasts that were skinless but still had the bone in them. I waited til the gravy sauce cooled then coated the chicken with it. Lined them in a baking dish and baked for one hour on 400 degrees. Took them out, basted them again with the sauce and baked an extra ten min.
Since we are burned out on rice, I served this over rice noodles and with fresh sliced tomatoes. <3Last edited by LariP; 01-19-2013 at 06:32 PM.
