No Boil Lasagna
Easy No Boil Lasagna
Meat Layer
Brown a lb Italian Sausage and 1 to 2 lb hamburger.
saute'
1 chopped onion
1 lb sliced mushrooms in a little olive oil
3 cloves minced garlic
saute' in a liberal splash of wine adds a nice touch.
Cheese Layer
1 lb Mozzarella cheese
1 lb Ricotta cheese
1 cup Parmesan cheese
½ cup Romano Cheese
2 eggs
3 jars spaghetti sauce (Our current favorite is Newman’s Italian Sausage with green peppers)
salt, pepper and italian seasonings to taste.
1 package non cooked lasagna noodles (you may use less than the whole package if you want it a little lighter, or use all if you want it ‘heavier’).
Layers
Pour one jar sauce in the bottom of a pan. Put one cup water in the jar. Shake it up to get all the sauce remaining in the jar.
layer of noodles (4 or 5 ) depending on how “heavy” you want it to be.
layer of about half the cheese layer
layer of noodles
layer of half meat and mushroom mixture.
pour another jar of sauce over the meat. Pour the cup of water and remaining sauce from first jar in second jar. Shake it up to mix in all the sauce.
Layer of noodles
Layer of cheese
Layer of noodles
Layer of meat
Third jar of sauce Pour the cup of water from the second jar in this jar, shake it up and then pour it around the edges of the lasagna.
Seal with foil and cook on a cookie sheet @ 350* for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Remove foil, put a nice layer of mozzarella cheese on top and sprinkle liberally with shredded parm. cheese, or I like to use the 5 cheese blend. and put back in oven to melt/brown. Usually 20 minutes to half an hour.
Remove from oven and let stand at least 15 minutes before cutting while making garlic bread.
The original recipe I got this from was a meatless recipe using spinach. I believe it was in one of the Diet for a Small Planet cookbooks. But we are meat lovers in my family. I often will still put spinach in it too. Just a box of frozen spinach thawed and well drained and chopped to small pieces then add to meat or replace meat layer if you want it vegetarian.Last edited by bullmama; 11-18-2013 at 04:26 PM.

Re: No Boil Lasagna
I made this again on Sunday.
Bruce is raving that it's the best Lasagna he's ever had. Only thing I did differently from above is I made it in a new pan that was bigger and deeper. And since I had more room to do so, I increased the water to 1 1/2 cup and added 1 more jar of sauce on top (Ragu garlic and onion) First 3 jars were Newmans Pepper and Italian Sausage. Baked 1 1/2 hours covered, added cheese on top then 15 minutes uncovered. Let sit and rest about half an hour before we ate.
