Holiday food gift giving
I'm curious what you all will be making for people during the holidays this year? I traditionally make up a big batch of cookies, put them in treat bags or tins and give those away as gifts. In the past I've made a cranberry biscotti, chocolate chip butter cookies w/macadamias, and my favorite...rum balls!
Today I went the the store and stocked up on choc chips (white and semi sweet), holiday colored m&m's, pecans, mixed nuts, dried and fresh cranberries, and butter for the upcoming baking rush. I also bought some Chex cereal b/c this year i'll be handing out homemade Christmas Chex Mix.
I will be posting my recipes soon and would love to know what you will be baking as well.Last edited by LariP; 01-20-2013 at 01:50 PM.

Re: Holiday food gift giving
Well.... I am far from a baker but my sister and I both started to get together last year and do our bake off. We make all sorts of things for the guys at hubby's work and family. I think the one I have had most requested is the choc chip cookie dough balls. Pain in the bootie to make, I hate the dipping of chocolate. Haven't planned our list yet for this year. The theme is going to be SIMPLE I think.
Here is a pic of what we made last year. We were not near done yet at this point. Lol!

I usually make rum balls and put them in a cellophne bag and tie with red and green ribbon I have also made chocolates but they are too fiddly so I am not doing them again and maybe white christmas if I feel energetic.

We're not much on "gift giving," but I make some incredible Southern Comfort Balls! (if I do say so)

Instead of "Rum Balls" they are "SoCo Balls"... and um, yeahhhh, y'all's minds are definitely in the gutter! Right there beside mine, no doubt, because I know exactly of what you speak...

Re: Holiday food gift giving
My sister mailed us a box with an assortment of cookies, her world-renown banana bread, and a jar of peach butter! (Like apple butter, but peach.) Mmmmmm!
She makes up for my Scrooge-ness... LOL!
