    Cake Blunder!!

Oh phooey, I was so excited to bake this recipe for a Pear Cake this morning. I gathered all the ingredients, measured everything out step by step, following the recipe as written. Or so I thought. After I put the batter into the bundt cake pan, popped it into the pre-heated oven, set the timer, and started cleaning up I discovered the box of baking soda left unopened! Yes, I forgot the BS!! I immediately thought of taking the cake out of the oven and adding it to the still not fully-cooked cake but no dice. Fifteen minutes had already lapsed in baking time and that would only make things worse.

So, here's what my baking soda-less cake looks like 45 minutes later:

Actually, it doesn't look too, too flat does it? I skipped the topping step of the recipe all together since I don't know yet what this cake tastes like and didn't want to waste time and ingredients if it tastes like a dud.

That'll teach me to drink my morning cup of coffee before I ever start cooking anything again!

OMG I bet you wanted to freak after all that work! How did it turn out taste wise?

I'd probably still eat it, honestly it looks mighty tasty!

I was going to report back that the cake tastes GREAT!! I'm actually pleasantly surprised by it. Wasn't flat at all but definitely not a fluffy cake-like texture. At least it's not going to waste b/c i'm enjoying it

Howdy! I ordered a cake for my best friend's baby shower and solely complete at the second I had place my full name within the section wherever it asked what words you wished on the cake. unsure she would have appreciated a cake dedicated to Pine Tree State rather than her unhatched.

    Thanks
