    The Ever-Fresh Commode

We have incredibly hard water here - it will destroy a shower head in less than a year.

We put about 1/2 C of plain, white vinegar into the UPPER part of the toilet - the water holding tank - and let it sit for a few hours. Use the toilet scrubby on a stick that you use in the bowl to clean whatever you can reach in the tank. Flush. Use the flushing vinegar water to scrub up under the rim where the water comes down into the bowl. Let that soak in the bowl for a while and then scrub the bowl itself before you flush it again...

(We have multiple house dogs who insist on drinking out of the commodes, and they're big enough to lift the lid so that doesn't stop them... I clean the upper tank every month, and the bowls daily. I've discovered that a daily cleaning of the bowl take a whole 15 seconds [i use shampoos that were purchased and then *someone/my daughter* didn't like] and has completely removed the hard water stain/deposit that sits at the top of the water level in the bowl.)

You clean your bowls daily?! Damn you make me look horrible. Never thought to put vinegar in the upper tank but it makes sense. I LOVE using it to clean with.

I only slosh them out daily... just so the dog's don't get a surprise.
