August Recipe Challenge--Let's Go Back To School!
Now that we're in the month of August, many kids (and parents), are getting ready for that dreaded first day of school! So for this month our cooking challenge will be to prepare something for "back to school". This can be your favorite sandwich or a school cafeteria item that you fondly remember. Mystery meat, anyone?
Let's get those backpacks ready and grab your lunchboxes!
To enter the challenge, simply reply to this post with the recipe you plan on making. Once you make it, take a photo of your dish, post the recipe in the "Monthly Recipe Challenge" forum, and tell us about the recipe you chose. Did you love it or hate it? Did it need something different? Next time you make it would you change anything?
No matter how the dish turns out, we will have a lot of fun trying new ingredients, testing our palates, and exploring new cooking adventures together.

That's easy, candy bar and a coke! Lol.... Kidding... Sort of.... I can't remember what I ate for lunch but I did work in the student store that sold candy bars so I'm betting that was my lunch on many occasions. Ah to be young and free again!

Re: August Recipe Challenge--Let's Go Back To School!
At school in England we ate at the school cafeteria a cooked meal and it was always awful, in high school here in Australia I think I bought my lunch most days I know I always liked apple turnovers, cream buns and a bottle of coke but I would buy hot chips (fries) on the way home from school each day maybe with a Pluto pup or chicko roll so unhealthy. but at times I would nick out of school and go home for lunch we were not allowed to leave the school grounds until the bell went for the day but I lived just down the road so I would sneak out with my friend and go home and make custard my Mother neve knew until one day I was making custard and felt someone behind me and my friend had gone quite I turned round and my Mum was standing there she had came home from work sick, so I was busted. but I don't have any pics to post. but I will get some of theinternet to show you what a Pluto pup and a chicko roll is.

August Recipe Challenge--Let's Go Back To School!
Tater Tots came out when I was in middle school - and that was something my family never would consider buying, when we had potatoes coming from the garden.
I still have "a thang" for those little death nuggets... Mmmmmmm.
