Bowls, bowls, bowls
When I'm cooking, I like having a "dump bowl" within arm's reach to place all those things that come with cooking and making a mess (cucumber peel, ends of carrots, garlic skin, etc...), instead of constantly dumping stuff into the trash can. Gets tiring doing that! Anyways, I've been using this huge empty cottage cheese container as that dump bowl but wanted to also recommend going to your local dollar store, or if you have a 99cent Only Store nearby you, for these kinds of bowls. I recently got a few stainless steel bowls that are super versatile, not just for dumping, but for mixing your recipes, and also for weighing out my food. I just love them and for less than a dollar each, such a deal!

Yes, I do much the same -- but gather it up and feed the composter or put it in the dogs' bowls for their next meal...
Citrus is about the only thing that ends up in our garbage.
The worms can have anything but meat, cheeses, dairy & citrus. The dogs can eat everything but the citrus.
We waste very little.
The worms even eat junk mail... LOL!

Thanks to cali~jenn , i just spent over $50 on Amazon, LOL! I got that scrap bowl...not identical to your pic but it got great reviews and was only around $9, and the rest of the balance was spent on...why dog treats of course! (Nylabone Filet Mignon, it's their favorite)!

Henny, I buy from amazon at least a few times a month. Anything I can't find I buy there. They have the best customer service around!

Yes, just heard a few days ago Amazon will be having this grocery service. I don't think it's available yet in California...i think they're starting it in a few states only right now, if i'm not mistaken. Should be interesting. I already buy some specialty grocery items from Amazon so i'd be up for doing online grocery shopping if the price was right.

Re: Bowls, bowls, bowls
I got my scrap bowl today!!! woot woot!!! love how it lays against the wall to save some space, and it's so much roomier and wayyyyy better than that empty cottage cheese container i was using!! Having this thing makes me want to make a mess more which means more cooking!!
thanks @cali~jenn for the great recommendation!
