    Let's Dish!

    Let's Dish!

A couple days ago I ordered two dishers from an online kitchen store and can't wait to use them! Do you know what a "disher" is? I certainly did not until I started looking for something to scoop my cookie dough with. I've always just used whatever spoon was within arm's reach but then as I researched cookie recipes a little more, in preparation for all my Christmas baking, I came across blogs where bakers boasted about using their disher. The advantage of using such a gadget include having a uniform size in your cookies, as well as the assurance that your cookies will all bake evenly since they are the same size. Plus, I read that dishers make scooping up cookie dough a breeze!

Here are the two dishers I bought:

Dishers come in various sizes. The one on the left is #40 disher which holds 7/8 ounces, while the one on the right is #16 which holds 2 ounces (perfect for cupcakes or a large cookie). The bigger the number, the smaller the size. These arrived yesterday and I will be testing them out this weekend.

Well @Desert Sky, they actually do double as ice cream scoopers too, or melon ball scoopers, or for dishing out mashed potatoes even! But this is the first time I've even heard of the name "disher" myself. Pretty neat-o , eh?!

Yes it is! I remember using them the most to scoop out the whipped butter for the pancakes and baked potatoes for the resturaunts I've worked in. That has been so long I don't know what the heck we called it but I know it was not a disher. Probably the butter scooper. LOL

Ooooh! Great score. Do share if it makes a difference in your cookies' even-ness.

I love this gadget! I made some cookie dough over the weekend and the ease of scooping the dough onto the cookie sheets was incredible! It also made scooping cookie dough very fast. I will let you know how the finished cookies turn out once I bake them.
