Home Made Hot Sauce / Salsa
Home Made Hot Sauce/Salsa
4 Large Ripe Tomatoes (the redder the better!)
1 Knorr Cilantro Cube
Several Hot Peppers
Salt
Boil your tomatoes in water for about 20 minutes until they are very soft and the skin has become loose.
Put one Knorr Cilantro cube in your blender, put tomatoes on top and puree well.
Meanwhile, take off the stems and boil several hot peppers in the same water as the tomatoes.
Depending on how hot you like your sauce will depend on how many peppers and variety you use. I like to use a combination of fresh peppers from my garden and when they are freshly picked they are very spicy. So I use about 6 peppers. Recent batch consisted of one thatch chile, 2 Jalepenos, 1 Habenero, 1 Yellow grande pepper, and one trinidad pepper.
This is by far the best hot sauce I have made and I do think the magic ingredient is the Knorr Cilantro cube. I normally go through the trouble of cutting fresh cilantro. That gives it a completely different taste. The Knorr cube seems to give it more zest and to me, not really too much of a cilantro flavor (which I do love).
I usually also do not use my hot sauce for nachos but this time I am, it was really that good and great on chips!

Cilantro cube?! Yet another thing I have never heard of! As much salsa and Mexican food as I eat and make, I am shocked at this one.... Will have to look for it.

Looks great, Lisa! I've never heard of a cilantro cube either but there are so many Mexican markets nearby me i'm going to need to check that out!
