Crockpot baked beans
I made these for the first time yesterday and they were very good. Easy and delicious!
1 lb. dry navy beans
Wash and pick over beans, removing any stones, broken beans, etc. Transfer to crockpot and soak beans in water overnight.
The next day add:
1 cup brown sugar, packed
4 tsp. dry mustard
4 tbsp. molasses
2 tablespoons ketchup
Salt to taste
1 large onion, sliced
1/4-1/2 lb. bacon
Stir into beans. Turn CrockPot on low setting. Cover and cook for 9-11 hours, or until beans are tender. If beans start to become dry during cooking, add a small amount of hot water. When beans are tender, taste and adjust seasonings before serving.
I suggest being very conservative with the amount of water you use. If you don't use enough you can always add more but in my case I put too much and was laddling water off the top at the end until the sauce was the proper consistancyLast edited by LariP; 01-19-2013 at 08:51 PM.
