Ingredients

• 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
• 8 slices of your favorite ham
• 8 slices of cheddar cheese
• 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon of water for the egg wash
• 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to a rectangle measuring approximately 12×8 inches.
  3. Assemble the Croissants: Place the ham slices in a single layer on the center of the pastry dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides. Top the ham with the cheese slices, arranging them to cover the ham evenly.
  4. Fold and Cut: Fold the short sides of the pastry dough over the filling, then fold the long sides over the center, overlapping them slightly. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the folded dough into 8 equal-sized croissants.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Carefully transfer the assembled croissants to the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down. Brush the tops of the croissants with the egg wash, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
