Ingredients
• 3-4 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and drumsticks
• 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
• Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
• Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
• Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season the chicken generously with salt and pepper.
• Step 3: Arrange the chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side up. Brush the chicken evenly with the barbecue sauce mixture, making sure to coat all sides.
• Step 4: Bake the chicken for 35-45 minutes, basting with the sauce every 10-15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy and caramelized.
• Step 5: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy the oven-baked barbecue chicken hot, with any remaining sauce drizzled over the top.
