Ingredients
• 8-10 chicken drumsticks
• 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
• Step 1: In a large resealable bag or shallow bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken drumsticks and toss to coat evenly. Cover or seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.
• Step 2: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400-450°F). If using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to burn until they’re covered with a light gray ash.
• Step 3: Grill the chicken drumsticks for 18-22 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the skin is crispy and golden brown. Baste the drumsticks with the remaining marinade during the last 5 minutes of cooking for extra flavor and a shiny glaze.
• Step 4: Remove the grilled BBQ chicken drumsticks from the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring the meat stays moist and flavorful.
