Simple Beef Lo Mein Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
• 8 oz lo mein noodles, cooked according to package instructions
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon sesame oil
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
• 1 teaspoon brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
• 1 cup julienned carrots
• 1 cup thinly sliced bell peppers
• 1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 2 cups thinly sliced cabbage
• 2 green onions, sliced
• Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Stir to coat the beef evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Noodles: Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender. Transfer the vegetables to a plate and set aside.
  4. Cook the Beef: Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in the wok or skillet. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. Transfer the beef to the plate with the vegetables.
  5. Combine and Finish: In the same wok or skillet, add the cooked noodles, the reserved beef and vegetables, the cabbage, and the green onions. Toss everything together, allowing the noodles to heat through and the flavors to meld, for 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
