• 1 tablespoon baking powder

• 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
• 3/4 cup (180ml) cold buttermilk


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. This ensures the leavening agents are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  3. Cut in the Butter: Add the chilled, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Be careful not to overwork the dough, as this can lead to tough biscuits.
  4. Add the Buttermilk: Pour the cold buttermilk into the flour mixture and gently fold it in with a spatula or your hands until the dough just comes together. Be gentle to avoid overworking the dough, which can result in tough biscuits.
