Ingredients
• 1 (8-count) can of refrigerated cinnamon roll dough
• 3 large eggs
• 1/2 cup whole milk
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
• Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cinnamon Roll Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the cinnamon roll dough and separate the individual rolls, reserving the icing for later. Using a rolling pin, gently roll each cinnamon roll into a thin, rectangular shape, being careful not to tear the dough.
- Make the French Toast Filling: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined. This egg mixture will become the custard-like filling for the roll-ups.
- Assemble the Roll-Ups: Dip each rolled-out cinnamon roll into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Carefully transfer the coated roll-ups to a greased baking sheet, seam-side down.
- Bake to Perfection: Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter and brush it over the tops of the roll-ups. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the roll-ups are golden brown and the centers are cooked through. Keep a close eye to avoid over-browning.
- Finish with a Flourish: Remove the roll-ups from the oven and brush them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of melted butter. Drizzle the reserved cinnamon roll icing over the top, or dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
