Ingredients
• 1 pound ground beef
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 large onion, diced
• 1 green bell pepper, diced
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
• 1 teaspoon dried thyme
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
• 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
• 2 cups beef or chicken broth
• Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
• Step 1: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
• Step 2: Add the olive oil, onion, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and the onion is translucent.
• Step 3: Stir in the garlic, Cajun seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
• Step 4: Add the uncooked rice and broth to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
• Step 5: Remove the skillet from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
