Instructions

  1. Prepare the Popcorn Kernels: In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven, combine the popcorn kernels, sugar, and oil. Gently stir to ensure the kernels are evenly coated.
  2. Heat the Pot: Place the pot over medium-high heat and cover with a lid. Keep a close eye on the pot, gently shaking or stirring occasionally, to prevent burning. The kernels will begin to pop within a minute or two.
  3. Listen for the Popping to Slow: Once the popping slows to about 2-3 seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat. Continue to gently shake the pot to prevent burning.
  4. Add the Salt: Immediately sprinkle the sea salt over the freshly popped kettle corn and toss to distribute evenly. The heat from the freshly popped corn will help the salt adhere.
