Ingredients
• 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or top round steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
• 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
• 2 green bell peppers, thinly sliced
• 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced or shredded
• 4 soft hoagie or sub rolls, split lengthwise
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 1/2 tsp black pepper
• 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by slicing the onions and bell peppers into thin strips. Set them aside. Slice or shred the provolone cheese, and prepare the hoagie rolls by splitting them lengthwise.
- Season the Beef: In a large bowl, combine the sliced beef, garlic powder, dried oregano, black pepper, and salt. Toss the beef until it’s evenly coated with the seasonings.
- Sauté the Onions and Peppers: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until they’re softened and starting to caramelize. Remove the onions and peppers from the skillet and set them aside.
- Cook the Beef: In the same skillet or griddle, working in batches if necessary, cook the seasoned beef for 2-3 minutes per batch, or until it’s browned and cooked through. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan, as this will steam the beef instead of searing it.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the split hoagie rolls on a baking sheet. Divide the cooked beef, onions, and peppers evenly among the rolls. Top each sandwich with a generous amount of provolone cheese.
- Bake and Serve: Place the assembled sandwiches in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are lightly toasted. Serve the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches hot and enjoy!
