Ingredients
• 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
• 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
• 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
• 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: In a shallow bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well to evenly distribute the cinnamon.
- Roll Out the Puff Pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll the pastry into a rectangle, approximately 12×16 inches (30×40 cm) in size.
- Cut and Twist the Pastry: Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry into 1-inch (2.5 cm) wide strips. Twist each strip several times to create a spiral shape. Arrange the twisted strips on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between them.
- Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water to create an egg wash. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the egg wash over the tops and sides of the twisted pastries.
- Bake to Perfection: Bake the Puff Pastry Cinnamon Twists in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on them to ensure they don’t burn.
- Coat in Cinnamon-Sugar: As soon as the twists come out of the oven, immediately roll them in the prepared cinnamon-sugar mixture, making sure to coat all sides evenly.
- Cool and Serve: Transfer the coated Puff Pastry Cinnamon Twists to a wire rack to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy the irresistible combination of flaky pastry and crunchy cinnamon-sugar coating.
