Ingredients
• 1 package (24-32 ounces) frozen meatballs
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 cup heavy cream
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
• Step 1: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the frozen meatballs and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through, about 5-7 minutes.
• Step 2: Sprinkle the flour over the meatballs and stir to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux and thicken the sauce.
• Step 3: Slowly pour in the beef broth, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
• Step 4: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and nutmeg. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
• Step 5: Simmer the meatballs in the creamy sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the sauce has reached your desired consistency.
• Step 6: Serve the Swedish meatballs warm, over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or with your favorite sides.
